Mistake Rib Scarf
I've been having a ton of fun making color combinations in mistake rib. Sometimes I use scraps to make a version that has all sorts of colors in them. That's what I did with the scarf pictured above- I lined up all my little scraps of fingering weight and then worked it with a strand of natural cream brushed alpaca silk. My rule was to not use a color more than 20 rows.
(above is salt water taffy MCN sock and brushed alpaca silk in natural cream)
The pattern is simple and the results are stunning! I'll share the pattern I followed with you all
Mistake Rib Scarf
Size:
5.5" x ~70" (see materials note)
Materials:
1 skein each of Cape May Fiber Brushed Yarn (either alpaca or kid silk) and 1 skein of sock weight.
Note: Since my sock weight yarns come in yardages from 370 to 463 yards, you'll find that more yardage makes a longer scarf.
Needles:
US Size 5 (3.75 mm) or 6 (4mm) or even a US Size 7 (4.5mm) for a looser scarf.
Gauge:
33 sts, 31 rows = 4" (10 cm), unstretched
Mistake Rib Stitch (multiple of 4+3)
Row 1: (K2, p2) rep from ( to ) to last 3 sts, k2, p1.
Begin
Cast on 47 sts. Work in Mistake Rib Stitch until desired length. Bind off.
Wash in your favorite wool wash (I love eucalan and soak!), ring out excess water, lay flat to dry.
