This yarn I hold so dear to my heart. Every inch has been thoughtfully and carefully created in the United States to be a work of art. My neighbor, Jerry Braatz' (owner of Jersey Breeders LLC) introduced me to his beautifully bred huacaya alpacas. I bought over 100 of his fleeces. After carefully skirting and sorting the alpaca, I shipped them off to an American mill who are experts in working with alpaca. Dehairing (pulling the coarsest fibers out of the fleece) is important and ensures only the softer fibers remain. From there, I patiently waited over a year for the fleeces to be spun into a 3 ply DK weight. Just like humans, each alpacas' hair is unique in texture and qualities- there are 22 natural colors in alpaca!  The colors are naturally undyed to highlight the specialness of each animal. Naturally hypo-allergenic.

Brushed Alpaca Silk is deliciously soft and snuggly, has great yardage with the 50g hanks going a long way with 328 yards per hank. With 74% Baby Suri Alpaca and 26% Mulberry silk its pure fluffy luxury. It also works a treat held double on larger needles.

Superwash corriedale is blended with a fine nylon for strength, durability and wearing comfort. It was bred from about 1882 in New Zealand by James Little, who cross-bred Merino and Lincoln Longwool sheep. Corriedale is especially good for hard-wearing items, like socks and outdoorsy sweaters!

Suri Silk Chonk

Our Suri Silk Chonk is a brushed Suri alpaca with a silk core, it's deliciously soft and snuggly. Speckles spread softly and won't be super defined. I have worked on this yarn at 18 sts / 4" on a size US 7 or 8 needle for mitts and hats, and also at 16 sts / 4" on a US Size 9 or 10 for sweaters.
